Fundraising and Advocacy
SALT has been proud to be involved in fundraising and advocacy.
Last year, SALT ran a film screening of The Diving Bell and the Butterly, and raised over $1000 for the Speech and Language Therapy training program at the Bangladesh Health Professionals' Institute in Savar, Bangladesh. The assistance of the Glenferrie Rotary Club, Banyule City Council, La Trobe University and JR Medical Books were instrumental in achieving this goal.
SALT has been involved in Speech Pathology Australia's National Speech Pathology Week, raising awareness of the Speech Pathology profession. The committee has members in Speech Pathology Australia, the National Student Network, the Faculty Board and the Health Sciences Student Council. They have had university input on issues such as feedback processes, the importance of student associations in universities, and international clinical placements. In addition, SALT is happy to help any individual Speech Pathology student who requires assistance, through referral, advice or representation.
